Located in Lisbon, North Dakota, Lisbon Area Health Services (LAHS) is a 25-bed hospital providing acute care, swing bed, outpatient and home care services to a community of approximately 2,200 and a service population of approximately 8,000. LAHS is owned by Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI). CHI is a national not-for-profit company based in Denver, CO with facilities in 19 states.

Lisbon Area Health Services has been a vital part of the community for over 50 years.

Lisbon (the Ransom County seat) is an agricultural area located in southeastern North Dakota at the heart of the Sheyenne River Valley. Our community enjoys recreation and has an exceptional nine-hold golf course plus a beautiful park with tennis courts, ball park, RV park, gazebo, swings for youngsters and swimming pool. The Fort Ransom State Park is located approximately 15 miles to the west and offers camping, fishing, canoeing, downhill and cross country skiing. Dead Colt Creek recreational area located approximately 10 miles to the south has a lake offering fishing, swimming, boating and water sports as well as baseball diamonds and camping. Lisbon is just 75 miles from the major city of Fargo, North Dakota.

The Lisbon elementary, middle and high school system maintain a high academic program with approximately 750 students and a low student to teacher ratio. There are 7 Protestant and 1 Catholic churches in town.

The mission of Catholic Health Initiatives and LAHS is to nurture the healing ministry of the Church by bringing it new life, energy and viability in the 21st century.
