    Foreign Operations

    Philanthropic Endeavors


  • In December 2001 Aflac pledged $10 million to the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders service at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
  • Aflac pledged $3 million in 1995 to establish the Aflac Cancer Center at Egleston Children's Hospital. (In 1999, Egleston Children's Hospital merged with Scottish Rite Children's Hospital to form Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the nation's second-largest children's hospital.)
  • In 1995, Aflac committed $2 million to the American Red Cross to establish Corporate America's Helping Hands Fund for relief from the Kobe, Japan, earthquake.
  • In 1997, Aflac committed $1.5 million to establish the Aflac Chair for Cancer Research at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles.
  • In 2001, Aflac committed $1,000 to each family of the police officers, firefighters, or emergency medical technicians killed in the attacks on New York City and Washington.
  • The Aflac sales force's support of the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has reached $5 million since inception.

  • In June 2003, Fortune magazine named Aflac to its list of "The 50 Best Companies for Minorities" for the second consecutive year.
